Apple iPhone History Overview

The iPhone is a line of smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. The first iPhone was unveiled by Steve Jobs, then CEO of Apple, on January 9, 2007, and released on June 29, 2007. The iPhone was revolutionary at the time of its release, as it introduced a number of new features and technologies that had never been seen before in a smartphone.

One of the most notable features of the original iPhone was its large, 3.5-inch touchscreen display. This allowed users to interact with the device in a completely new way, using multi-touch gestures to navigate and control the device. The iPhone also featured a built-in camera, which allowed users to take photos and videos, as well as access the internet, send and receive email, and make phone calls.

The iPhone was initially only available in the United States, but was quickly released in other countries, including the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

Over the years, Apple has released several new versions of the iPhone, each with new features and improvements. The iPhone 3G was released in 2008, and featured support for faster 3G data networks. The iPhone 3GS was released in 2009, and featured a faster processor, more storage, and improved camera capabilities. In 2011, iPhone 4S was released with a faster processor, improved camera, and the addition of the Siri voice-controlled personal assistant. In 2012, iPhone 5 was released with a larger 4-inch display and support for faster 4G data networks. The iPhone 5S and 5C were released in 2013, with the 5S featuring a new fingerprint sensor for added security, and the 5C being a more budget-friendly option.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were released in 2014, with larger 4.7 and 5.5 inch displays, respectively. In 2015, the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus were released, featuring new features such as 3D Touch and Live Photos. The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were released in 2016, with a new water and dust resistant design, and the removal of the traditional headphone jack. In 2017, the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus were released, featuring wireless charging and a more powerful processor. The iPhone X, was released in 2017, with a new edge-to-edge OLED display, Face ID facial recognition, and no home button.

In 2018, Apple released the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, with the XS and XS Max featuring a new A12 Bionic chip and improved dual cameras, and the XR being a more budget-friendly option with a 6.1-inch LCD display. In 2019, Apple released the iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max with improved cameras, night mode, and the A13 Bionic chip. In 2020, Apple released the iPhone SE (2nd generation), which is similar to iPhone 8 but with the A13 Bionic chip. In 2020, iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max were released with 5G support, Ceramic Shield front cover, A14 Bionic chip and improved cameras.

In 2021, Apple launched iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro & iPhone 13 Pro Max phones. Compared to the previous generation, the camera and A15 Bionic chip were new in them. In 2022, the notch of the iPhone 14 series was rounded off and the A16 Bionic CPU was added. Changes were also made to the camera and the iPhone mini series was discontinued and the iPhone Max Series with a large display was launched in its place. Some special features were added around the round notch of the iPhone 14 series, which were also copied by some Android phone makers.
